What does it really mean to be free? In this message from our Image of God series, Pastor Scott explores the difference between true freedom and autonomy—the desire to define life, truth, good, and evil for ourselves. Looking at Genesis 2–3, we see how humanity was created to flourish in relationship with God, reflecting Him as His image bearers. Yet from the beginning, we have been tempted to become the source rather than reflect the Source. Autonomy promises freedom, but ultimately leads to shame, fear, brokenness, and death. The good news is that God has not abandoned His image bearers. Through Jesus, He offers grace, restoration, and a new way to live—not for ourselves, but surrendered to the One who created us. True freedom is found not in being our own authority, but in trusting God’s goodness, wisdom, and ways.
